Anne Hagan

Anne Hagan is a founding partner of Canter Hagan LLP, a San Mateo family law firm focused on resolving divorce and family disputes outside court. Her current practice centers on mediation, Collaborative Practice, consulting for parties in mediation, and preparing premarital and postmarital agreements. She helps clients consider property division, support, parenting issues, and the legal implications of proposed settlements, drawing on substantial experience in family law litigation.

Hagan earned an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis, and a J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law. She clerked at Cotchett, Pitre and McCarthy during law school. Her subsequent mediation training includes programs through The Center for Understanding in Conflict and Mosten Mediation Training, including advanced training. This background supports her approach to negotiation and the legal and financial aspects of family restructuring.

Hagan practiced family law litigation for approximately two decades before turning her focus to out-of-court resolution. She previously handled high-asset and financially complex matters at Hanson Crawford Crum Family Law Group and worked in environmental planning litigation earlier in her career. She has mediated numerous matters and appeared in proceedings in San Mateo, Santa Clara, San Francisco, and Marin counties, giving her substantial experience with family courts and settlement options.

Anne Hagan helped establish Canter Hagan LLP in 2015 and has served on the board of the San Mateo County Trial Lawyers Association. She participates in bar and collaborative practice organizations, including the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. By combining litigation experience with mediation and collaborative training, she assists families seeking workable agreements without turning every disagreement into an adversarial court proceeding.
