Andrew J. Savage, III

Andrew J. Savage, III, is a highly respected criminal defense attorney based in Charleston, South Carolina. He has built a strong reputation across the United States—and even abroad—for representing clients in complex, high-profile cases. Before entering private practice in 1981, Andrew served as Chief Trial Counsel in the Criminal Division of the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office. He has also held public office, serving two terms on the Charleston County Council. In addition, he is a retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps.

Andrew earned his B.A. from Fordham University in 1972 and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina in 1975.

Andrew was the first criminal defense lawyer in South Carolina to become board-certified as a Criminal Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He has maintained an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell since 1990 and has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 1991. He is a Fellow in both the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Board of Criminal Lawyers and has been recognized as a Super Lawyer annually since 2008.
