Andrew I. Silfen is the New York Managing Partner and leads the Financial Restructuring & Bankruptcy practice. He focuses on complex restructurings, distressed situations, liability management, and bankruptcy proceedings. He represents creditors, trustees, lenders, and investors in high-profile matters, delivering practical solutions in challenging financial environments.

Andrew earned an LL.M. in corporate law from New York University School of Law in 1994. He received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1986, where he was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society, and his B.A., cum laude, from Brandeis University in 1983.

Andrew represents creditors’ committees, indenture trustees, agents, bondholders, and private credit lenders in bankruptcy proceedings. He also advises acquirers and investors in distressed and insolvent companies. His experience spans industries such as energy, retail, healthcare, telecommunications, and technology, with a strong focus on complex financial transactions.

Andrew has been recognized by Chambers USA as part of a leading bankruptcy practice from 2023 through 2025. He was also named a leading municipal finance bankruptcy attorney by Legal 500 US. He has received multiple Turnaround Atlas Awards for major restructuring and turnaround transactions.

Andrew has handled high-profile matters involving major companies such as Hertz Corporation, WEWORK, Inc., and Mallinckrodt PLLC. His work includes representing indenture trustees, creditors’ committees, and investors in complex bankruptcies, enforcement litigation, and cross-border restructurings across a wide range of industries.

Andrew I. Silfen is active in professional organizations, serving as a trustee of the executive committee of the New York Institute of Credit. He is also a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a board member of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors.
