Andrew Atkins is a Charlotte litigation attorney and partner at Troutman Pepper Locke, focused on financial services disputes, consumer law, business litigation, class actions, appellate matters, commercial arbitrations, investigations, and regulatory compliance. He represents banks and other financial institutions in matters involving complex financial products, mortgage securitizations, consumer claims, investor disputes, technology issues, insurance coverage, and mortgage repurchase demands. He also advises clients on CFPB compliance and other financial industry regulations affecting business operations and risk management decisions.
Andrew earned his J.D., cum laude, from Washington and Lee University School of Law, where he served as executive editor of the Washington and Lee Law Review. He earned his B.A. from Davidson College, where he was a Kuykendall Scholar. He clerked for Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks of the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida and served as a judicial extern to the Supreme Court of Virginia.
Andrew represents financial institutions in litigation involving mortgage servicing, bankruptcy class actions, commercial contracts, regulatory investigations, fraud allegations, and other complex disputes. He has defended mortgage repurchase and indemnification claims and handled matters involving residential mortgage securitizations. He also represents clients in food and beverage, health care, and retail industries. He brings litigation experience to disputes that require detailed factual analysis, regulatory knowledge, and coordinated strategy across multiple forums nationwide.
Andrew Atkins is admitted to practice in North Carolina and Florida and before federal courts in both states. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a member of the American Bar Association. He has also served as co-chair of the ABA Litigation Section’s Young Advocates Committee.
