About

Anders Gillis is a labor and employment attorney whose practice centers on helping employers manage workplace issues and reduce legal risk. He advises both public and private-sector clients on a wide range of employment matters, including discrimination and harassment claims, disability accommodations, employee leave requirements, wage and hour concerns, hiring decisions, performance management, terminations, and workforce reductions. His approach focuses on practical solutions that support compliance while helping organizations operate effectively.

Anders earned a J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law in 2013. His legal education provided the foundation for a career dedicated to employment law and workplace compliance. He is admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and is involved with the Labor & Employment Law Section and the Grand Traverse-Leelanau-Antrim Bar Association. These professional affiliations help him stay informed about developments affecting employers and employees.

Anders works closely with organizations to create and maintain strong workplace practices. He reviews and prepares employment policies, employee handbooks, contracts, and separation agreements. He also assists with matters involving noncompete provisions, confidentiality protections, non-solicitation agreements, and nondisclosure obligations. In addition, he conducts workplace investigations and evaluations designed to identify concerns before they become larger legal disputes.

Anders has substantial litigation experience and represents employers before courts and administrative agencies when disputes cannot be resolved outside the courtroom. His background includes handling individual, class, and collective actions, as well as trying numerous cases. Before returning to private practice, he served as in-house employment counsel for a national mortgage bank with employees located in more than 25 states, giving him valuable insight into multi-state employment challenges.

Anders Gillis also shares his knowledge through employment law writing, including his book, “Employment Law & Remote Work,” and an employment law blog. His professional accomplishments include recognition as a Super Lawyers Rising Star (Labor & Employment) in 2019, 2020, and 2021, as well as the Jurisprudence Award (Trial Practice, Michigan State University College of Law) in 2013. Anders Gillis continues to help employers navigate complex workplace issues with strategic guidance and practical legal counsel.
