Amy McLaren

Amy McLaren is an attorney in the Litigation Department at The Thumbs Up Guys Injury Attorneys. Her experience includes insurance coverage issues, automobile and trucking cases, product liability, construction, and commercial litigation. She has spent her legal career as a litigator and has tried jury and bench cases to verdict. Before joining the firm, she worked in civil defense with major insurance carriers and corporate clients.

McLaren earned a B.A. from James Madison University, an M.A. from the College of Charleston, and a Juris Doctorate from Charleston School of Law. During law school, she served as an Executive Editor of the Journal of Alternative Dispute Resolution and worked as a research fellow. She helped draft and present healthcare and financial regulation legislation in Washington, D.C.

McLaren’s prior civil defense practice included work for major insurance carriers and corporations over the decade before she joined her current firm. This background gives her an understanding of the opposition in her present work. She has recognition in Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs and Insurance Law and describes courtroom experience, legal writing, insurance coverage work, and litigation involving automobile, trucking, product, construction, and commercial matters.

Amy McLaren is admitted in South Carolina, Virginia, the US District Court for the District of South Carolina, the US District Court for the Western District of Virginia, and the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. She received an Outstanding Public Service Award for pro bono work and recognition in personal injury and insurance law.
