About
Amy E. Askew is an experienced trial and appellate lawyer whose practice focuses on complex commercial disputes, class-action litigation, and a wide range of defense matters. She has represented businesses in consumer class actions and other high-stakes litigation. Her work also includes handling disputes involving employment issues such as non-compete agreements, trade secret misappropriation, wrongful termination, and discrimination claims. Over the course of her career, she has built a strong record of representing clients in challenging legal matters across multiple industries.
Amy earned a J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Baltimore School of Law. She earned a B.A. from Franklin & Marshall College. Beyond her legal practice, she has served as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, mentored students through the Baltimore Girls’ School Leadership Coalition since 2007, participated in the Maryland Professionalism Center Mentoring Program for New Admittees, and served on the Board of Directors of the Baltimore Urban Debate League.
Amy has extensive experience in railroad-related litigation. She has represented railroads in claims involving personal injuries, property damage, and cases brought by employees under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act and the Federal Railroad Safety Act. Her involvement in railroad law also includes active participation in the National Association of Railroad Trial Attorneys. In addition, she has handled a variety of employment-related disputes and has successfully defended employers facing complex workplace claims.
Amy has been recognized for her work in commercial litigation, railroad law, health care litigation, and class action matters. Chambers USA notes her work in complex commercial disputes and medical malpractice defense, with sources describing her as “a lawyer’s lawyer.” She has also been recognized in Benchmark Litigation as a “Local Litigation Star” in commercial litigation since 2017. The Best Lawyers of America has recognized her achievements in commercial litigation, railroad law, mass tort litigations/class actions, professional malpractice (defendants), and health care. She was named the 2025 “Lawyer of the Year” in Baltimore for professional malpractice (defendants) and the 2022 “Lawyer of the Year” in Baltimore for health care.
