About
Alysonne O. Hatfield is counsel in the Birmingham office of Ogletree Deakins. Her practice focuses on labor and employment litigation and on counseling businesses and public-sector clients about employment decisions. She handles workplace disputes involving discrimination and other employment-law claims, and advises on personnel policies and training. Her work also addresses wage and hour issues, USERRA, Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title IX, and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.
Alysonne earned a B.S. from Birmingham-Southern College in 1998 and a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2002. During law school, she served as a senior editor of the Alabama Law Review and participated as an oralist on the Phillip C. Jessup International Moot Court team. This academic experience built skills in research, writing, and advocacy that remain central to litigation and employment advice involving evolving statutes and regulatory requirements.
Alysonne previously represented corporate clients throughout employment litigation, including proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, lawsuits in state and federal courts, and appeals before the Eleventh Circuit. She later spent approximately a decade as assistant general counsel for the Alabama Department of Labor. There, she focused on unemployment compensation guidance and represented the agency in federal discrimination cases and state unemployment appeals. She returned to Ogletree Deakins in 2025 and resumed a general employment litigation practice.
Alysonne O. Hatfield draws on both private-practice litigation and direct government counsel experience when reviewing workplace risks and defending disputes. Her background gives her insight into employment-law compliance, agency procedures, and the legal consequences of personnel decisions. She is admitted in Alabama and before several federal district and appellate courts, as well as the U.S. Supreme Court. Her practice helps employers and public organizations address employee issues with attention to current legal obligations and potential litigation.
