Amanda Cutshall Goozée

Amanda Cutshall Goozée is a partner at Swift Currie who represents employers, businesses, and insurance companies in workers’ compensation, employment, and premises liability matters. Based in Birmingham, Alabama, she develops defense strategies for organizations facing workplace claims and litigation. Her work requires understanding how an employer operates, the circumstances of a claim, and the costs of dispute resolution. She also counsels clients about legal risks linked to employee injuries and related employment decisions.

Amanda earned a B.A. from Birmingham-Southern College in 2002 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2005. Her education laid a foundation for analyzing workers’ compensation statutes, employment disputes, and civil litigation procedure. She has since developed a practice focused on defending complex workplace matters and explaining how legal requirements apply to businesses and insurers. Her work often involves trial preparation, written motions, and appellate advocacy.

Amanda has achieved favorable trial outcomes in more than 95 percent of her litigated workers’ compensation cases and has secured summary judgment dismissals in retaliatory discharge matters. She has also successfully defended appeals. In 2026, she and a colleague obtained an appellate decision affirming dismissal of a retaliatory discharge action. She works with clients to evaluate each claim and choose approaches suited to their litigation needs, including workers’ compensation disputes and employment law allegations.

Amanda Cutshall Goozée serves on Alabama’s Workers’ Compensation Judicial Education Committee, which prepares resources and training for judges. She has held leadership positions in workers’ compensation sections of the Alabama State Bar and Birmingham Bar Association. Her recognition includes The Best Lawyers in America beginning in 2025. She also provides pro bono service through Birmingham Volunteer Lawyers.
