About
Alicia McDonnell is a senior associate attorney at Employer Solutions Law, where she represents Washington employers in workers’ compensation, workplace safety, and employment law matters. She joined the firm in June 2022 after previously representing injured workers in claims before the Department of Labor and Industries, the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals, and Washington Superior Courts. Her experience on both sides of workers’ compensation disputes helps her evaluate claims, anticipate opposing arguments, and pursue practical, cost-conscious outcomes for employers.
Alicia earned her B.A. from the University of Washington in 2016. She received her J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law in 2019. She is licensed to practice in Washington and belongs to the Washington State Bar Association and the American Society of Safety Professionals. Before law school, she helped employers develop and manage workplace accommodations for employees. During law school, she served as finance chair for the Labor and Employment Law student organization.
Alicia handles workers’ compensation claims and appeals, Division of Occupational Safety and Health and Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act violations, and related employment matters. She considers the legal, medical, financial, and operational issues involved in each case. Her work includes litigation, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution, and she adjusts her strategy as evidence and circumstances develop. She also collaborates with employers to create approaches that support their business goals while addressing employee needs. Her presentations and webinars help employers understand workplace rules, claims, and compliance concerns.
Alicia McDonnell is known for her detailed preparation, efficient case management, persuasive writing, and clear communication. She avoids a standard approach because she believes each matter requires a strategy based on its facts, applicable law, and the client’s priorities. Her transparency helps clients understand their options and make informed decisions throughout a dispute. She combines adaptability with careful analysis to help Washington employers seek favorable and workable resolutions.
