About
Alfredo Acosta is a criminal defense attorney with Acosta Law Group, which maintains an office in Maywood, Illinois. His practice covers misdemeanor and felony defense, including DUI, drug crimes, gun charges, federal crimes, fraud, violent offenses, juvenile matters, property and financial crimes, sex crimes, and traffic violations. He represents people accused of crimes with a practice built around trial preparation, procedural knowledge, and direct experience with the criminal justice system.
Alfredo earned a B.S. in Anthropology from Loyola University Chicago before obtaining his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School. His legal training followed his undergraduate study in anthropology and led directly into work with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. That background provided an early foundation in criminal procedure, charging decisions, evidence, and courtroom practice that continues to inform how he evaluates and defends criminal cases.
Alfredo worked for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office before and shortly after completing law school. During that period, he prosecuted drug cases, gun cases, and other felony offenses. He later worked with established Chicago criminal defense attorneys, gaining experience from the defense side of criminal litigation. In 2003, he opened his first law office in Berwyn, and his practice later expanded to additional Chicago-area offices, including the firm’s Maywood location.
Alfredo Acosta has built his practice around defending people facing serious consequences in state and federal criminal matters. His prosecutorial background gives him familiarity with how criminal cases are investigated, charged, and presented, while his defense experience helps him identify weaknesses and procedural issues from the client’s perspective. He handles cases ranging from traffic and DUI matters to high-level felony charges, providing representation across a broad spectrum of criminal defense concerns.
