About

Alexandra Geissmann is a senior criminal defense attorney at Phillips Law in New Orleans who focuses on serious felony cases. Her practice includes violent felony charges, attempted murder and serious assault allegations, drug distribution and trafficking cases, gun and weapons offenses, and other complex felony defense matters. She represents individuals facing high-stakes prosecutions and brings prior prosecutorial experience to case evaluation, strategy, and trial preparation.

Alex earned a J.D. from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center and a B.A. from the University of Mississippi. Her legal education provided the foundation for a career in criminal law, including courtroom procedure, evidence, legal research, and trial advocacy. She is admitted in Louisiana and has developed experience on each side of the criminal courtroom through prosecution and defense work.

Alex spent four years at the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, where she led two court sections, managed hundreds of criminal cases, and mentored younger attorneys in Magistrate Court. After moving to defense practice, she second-chaired an attempted second-degree murder trial that resulted in a not-guilty verdict and has since obtained dismissals and favorable resolutions in serious felony matters handled by the firm.

Alexandra Geissmann combines former prosecutor experience with current defense work in demanding felony cases. Her background helps her understand how criminal cases are evaluated, charged, developed, and prepared for trial, which informs her approach to challenging evidence and anticipating prosecution strategy. She is involved with the Louisiana State Bar Association and Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and received 2026 professional recognition listed by her firm.
