Alena Shautsova is the principal attorney at the Law Office of Alena Shautsova, P.C., bringing over 15 years of legal expertise to her practice. A native of Belarus, she graduated with honors from Belarussian State University before gaining experience in business law and earning a second degree in Economics and Management.
In 2005, the U.S. Department of State granted Ms. Shautsova the highly competitive Eduard S. Muskie scholarship, allowing her to pursue an L.L.M. at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Following her graduation, she interned with the United Nations NGO Global Action on Aging in New York.
Ms. Shautsova was admitted to practice law in the United States in 2008 after successfully passing the New York bar examination. She is admitted to practice before the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York federal courts, the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. Her practice focuses on immigration law, employment discrimination, and civil law.
Ms. Shautsova has extensive experience representing clients before USCIS, Asylum Offices, Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, OPLA, EOIR, and Federal Courts. Her case portfolio includes adjustment of status, asylum, waivers, removal defense, family and employment-based immigration petitions, appeals, and federal litigation.
A dedicated advocate, Ms. Shautsova has contributed to the legal profession through her service with the American Bar Association (ABA) and the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA). She has served on the ABA’s House of Delegates, as a co-chair for membership in New York, and helped organize Disaster Legal Services after Hurricane Sandy. She also represents the ABA in the United Nations and currently serves on the COSAC (Committee on Standards of Attorney Conduct).
Ms. Shautsova’s achievements have earned her recognition as a Super Lawyers New York Metro Rising Star (2015–2021), a distinction awarded to only 2.5% of attorneys in the region. She is a frequent speaker on legal matters on RTVi and continues to be a trusted voice in immigration and civil law.
