About
Ajia Burris is the founder of A. Burris Law. She founded the firm in February 2021 after gaining legal experience in public service, defense work, court support, and private practice. Her background gives her a strong view of clients, cases, negotiation, and courtroom preparation.
Ajia earned her Juris Doctor from Charlotte School of Law from 2013 to 2016. She also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro from 2009 to 2013. Her education helped shape her skills in research, writing, analysis, and advocacy.
Ajia received Pro Bono Honors upon graduation from Charlotte School of Law. During law school, she was active in the Black Law Students Association and Delta Theta Phi. These experiences reflect her early focus on service, professional growth, legal learning, and helping people through meaningful work.
Ajia served as an Assistant Solicitor for the City of Atlanta from 2017 to November 2020. In that role, she prosecuted violations of city ordinances, traffic infractions, and certain criminal matters. She also negotiated pleas, reviewed cases, prepared for court, and supported community prosecution efforts.
Ajia gained defense experience as a Legal Extern with the Mecklenburg County Public Defender’s Office in 2016. She interviewed clients, police officers, and witnesses; handled intake meetings; reviewed case details; negotiated with District Attorneys; maintained files; and helped connect clients with counseling and job placement resources.
Ajia also worked as a Summer Intern at Issa Hall Law PLLC, where she drafted complaints, demand letters, and contracts, and conducted legal research. She supported personal injury, employment law, DUI, business, civil litigation, and entertainment contract matters, and assisted with trial preparation and case management.
Ajia Burris brings broad legal experience to her work at A. Burris Law. Her background includes prosecution, public defense support, private firm work, court research, negotiation, client interviews, and litigation preparation. She uses these skills to serve clients with care, clear guidance, and strong professional advocacy.
