About
Adam T. Goebel is a member of Stoll Keenon Ogden’s Louisville office and chair of the firm’s Environmental Litigation practice. He focuses on complex cases for clients in the energy and commercial sectors and also works in business litigation, banking litigation, health care, and bankruptcy and financial restructuring. His experience includes personal injury and wrongful death claims, giving him a broad litigation practice across environmental, commercial, financial, and tort disputes.
Adam earned his J.D. from Southern Methodist University in 1996 and a B.A. from Emory University in 1992. He also attended the National Criminal Defense College. Early in his career, he handled felony jury trials involving charges ranging from white-collar offenses to murder. That trial background, combined with his later environmental and business work, supports a litigation approach built around detailed factual development, witness preparation, technical evidence, legal strategy, and courtroom advocacy.
His environmental work includes hazardous-waste, air, water, Superfund, cost-allocation, citizen-suit, regulatory, class-action, and contract disputes. Adam served as lead counsel in a major arbitration over responsibility for an environmentally complex chemical manufacturing site, where the panel assigned the cleanup costs to the prior owner and the award was confirmed in federal court. He has also handled significant appeals, wrongful death litigation, financial investigations, Ponzi-scheme bankruptcy matters, insurance disputes, and contract claims.
Adam T. Goebel has received recognition from Best Lawyers, Chambers USA, Kentucky Super Lawyers, and other legal publications for environmental and litigation work. He also advises the Kentucky Distillers Association and individual distillers on environmental matters affecting the bourbon industry. His practice combines regulatory knowledge, trial experience, and familiarity with financially significant disputes, helping clients respond to environmental liabilities, business conflicts, investigations, and other complex claims with a coordinated litigation strategy.
