Aaron M. Frey

Aaron M. Frey is the 58th Attorney General of Maine, known for his dedication to fairness, accountability, and service to the people of Maine. Born in Bangor and raised in Dixmont, he has built a legal career centered on protecting citizens’ rights and strengthening the state’s justice system. As Attorney General, he oversees a broad range of legal matters, including civil rights enforcement, consumer protection, and major criminal prosecutions.

Aaron Frey earned his B.A. from Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire and his J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law in Rhode Island. His academic achievements prepared him for a distinguished legal career rooted in service, ethics, and practical problem-solving.

Before assuming statewide office, Frey practiced law privately in Bangor, where he focused on criminal defense and family law, providing skilled representation to individuals facing complex legal challenges. His experience as a defense attorney gave him a deep understanding of how legal systems affect everyday citizens. From 2012 to 2018, he represented Bangor and Orono in the Maine House of Representatives, serving on the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee, where he helped shape responsible fiscal policy for the state.

As Attorney General, Aaron M. Frey continues to lead Maine’s legal affairs with integrity. He plays a key role in advancing justice across areas such as public safety, environmental protection, child support enforcement, and civil litigation.
