About
Aaron D. Levy is a partner at Shipman & Goodwin LLP in Hartford and co-chair of the firm’s Real Estate, Environment, Energy, Land Use and Construction Department. He practices in the Environmental group, advising manufacturers, real estate businesses, private equity firms, technology companies, and energy clients on federal and state environmental, health, and safety requirements. His work covers regulatory compliance, transactional counseling, environmental risk management, and matters involving enforcement or cleanup obligations.
Levy earned a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2006. He received his undergraduate degree from Colorado College in 2002, graduating cum laude. He is admitted in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. His education and multistate admissions support a practice involving environmental regulation, commercial transactions, remediation projects, and disputes that can require coordination across corporate, real estate, financing, and regulatory considerations.
Levy advises on environmental issues in mergers and acquisitions, lending transactions, restructurings, and other business deals. His work includes environmental insurance and contractual risk allocation, regulatory audits, reporting obligations, Connecticut Transfer Act matters, site investigation, and remediation. He handles issues involving PFAS, asbestos, lead, and PCBs, as well as environmental cost-recovery litigation and enforcement matters. His practice combines transaction planning with compliance work intended to identify and address environmental liabilities before and after a deal closes.
Aaron D. Levy previously practiced with Dewey & LeBoeuf before joining his current firm. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association Environmental Law Section and is affiliated with the Risk and Insurance Management Society. His professional activities have included board service with Leadership Greater Hartford. His work remains focused on helping clients address environmental obligations within business transactions, property matters, regulatory programs, cleanup projects, and disputes involving environmental liabilities.
