Zachary T. Schmidt

Zachary T. Schmidt is a lawyer at Redstone Law Firm in Sioux Falls and a member of the firm’s Litigation and Business Law practice groups. Zachary earned his J.D. from the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law in 2022 and a B.S. in Finance summa cum laude from St. Cloud State University in 2013. In law school, he won the Sam Masten Moot Court competition, competed in national moot court events, and was named to the Order of Barristers for achievement in oral advocacy and brief writing.

Before law school, Schmidt analyzed derivative securities at a Minneapolis investment company and worked at Great Western Bank, now First Interstate Bank, as a credit analyst and agribusiness banker. After earning his J.D., he clerked for Justice Mark E. Salter of the South Dakota Supreme Court, performing legal analysis and assisting with opinion drafting. He later moved into private practice in litigation and business law.

Zachary T. Schmidt brings a combination of financial experience, appellate clerkship training, and litigation skills to client matters. His background helps him evaluate disputes from both legal and business perspectives and communicate about complex financial facts in practical terms.
