About

William W. Allsopp is a Michigan attorney and of counsel at Allsopp Wackerly, with decades of experience in business, education, estate planning law, probate, trust administration, municipal, and labor law. He began his legal career while attending law school through work with the legal department of The Dow Chemical Company. Afterward, he served as a law clerk to Judge Donald E. Holbrook of the Michigan Court of Appeals. He entered private practice in 1977 and has since advised public bodies, companies, organizations, and individuals. His work includes real estate and bankruptcy matters.

William earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Detroit School of Law and his B.B.A. from Alma College. His business education and legal training prepared him to handle matters involving organizational structure, financial disputes, employment relationships, public administration, and long-term planning. Early experience in corporate law and appellate court work also strengthened his understanding of complex legal analysis, formal procedures, and written advocacy. He later shared his knowledge as an instructor at Delta College and Central Michigan University.

William has served as counsel for several Michigan school districts, including Bay City Public Schools, Bangor Township Schools, Beaverton Rural Schools, Caseville Schools, Essexville-Hampton Public Schools, and Bay Arenac Community High School. He also works as co-counsel for the City of Bay City on labor, finance, bankruptcy, and collection matters. His municipal practice includes representing the Bay City Housing Commission in landlord-tenant, fair housing, labor, and municipal issues across administrative, state, federal, and appellate proceedings.

William W. Allsopp is admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. He is a certified arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association and has participated in hundreds of arbitration proceedings for school districts, municipalities, businesses, and individuals. His affiliations include the National Organization on Legal Problems in Education, Michigan Council of School Attorneys, National Council of School Attorneys, American Bar Association, and Bay County Bar Association, where he served as president.
