William L.H. Lubov

William L.H. Lubov is an experienced Minnesota attorney at Lubov Law who concentrates his practice on civil commitment and mental health law. He has represented clients for almost 50 years and is a charter member of the Commitment Defense Project. His work focuses on individuals facing mental health-related legal issues, with an emphasis on informed guidance and effective courtroom representation. He has also handled personal injury, medical negligence, and family law matters during his career before focusing more closely on civil commitment cases.

Lubov earned his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1976. He previously received his B.S., with distinction, from the University of Minnesota in 1972. His academic background provided the foundation for a legal career that began the same year he was licensed to practice law. Over decades of practice, he developed substantial experience in civil commitment and mental health matters, while also building broader litigation skills through work involving personal injury, medical negligence, and family law cases.

Lubov is certified as a Civil Trial Senior Specialist by the Minnesota State Bar Association. Minnesota Lawyer recognized him as an Attorney of the Year in 2013 and 2018, and Minneapolis/St. Paul magazine has consistently named him a Super Lawyer.
