Valerie Moss Andrews is a New Orleans partner who practices labor and employment law, criminal defense, and litigation. She advises employers and represents individuals in matters that require careful investigation, motion practice, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy. Andrews also serves on the Criminal Justice Act Panel for the US District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, accepting federal criminal cases when the Federal Public Defender’s Office has a conflict.
Andrews earned her J.D. cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2016. She served on the Mississippi Law Journal and worked as a student attorney with the Mississippi Innocence Project Clinic and Criminal Appeals Clinic. She received her B.A. magna cum laude in English, with a Spanish minor, from Mississippi State University in 2012. Her education strengthened her research, writing, appellate, and client advocacy skills.
Before joining her current practice, Andrews represented indigent clients in capital criminal cases through the Capital Defense Project of Southeast Louisiana. She participated in pretrial strategy, investigation, discovery, and trial preparation. Earlier, she defended clients in Mississippi criminal cases at the trial and appellate levels. Her experience includes obtaining a conviction reversal from the Mississippi Court of Appeals and helping persuade the Department of Justice not to seek the federal death penalty.
Valerie Moss Andrews has been recognized by Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for Insurance Law. She previously served as president of the Hattiesburg Area Young Lawyer Association and belongs to the Defense Research Institute, Federal Bar Association, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, and New Orleans Bar Association. She is admitted in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee, as well as several federal courts.
