Tülin D. Açıkalın

Tülin D. Açıkalın is a Belmont, California, founding partner and Certified Family Law Specialist who represents clients in family law and domestic violence matters. Her practice includes high-conflict custody, complex asset division, support, mediation counseling, marital settlement agreement review, post-marital agreements, restraining orders, and criminal court advocacy. Açıkalın earned a J.D., cum laude, from Tulane Law School in 2000, where she served as associate editor of the Tulane Law Review. She received a B.S. in Management with a concentration in finance from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business in 1994. Her education supports a practice grounded in legal writing, financial analysis, negotiation, trial preparation, and careful advocacy in complex family and domestic violence cases.

Açıkalın has experience in business management, civil litigation, poverty law, and nonprofit domestic violence legal services. Before founding her current practice, she served as a managing attorney at Bay Area Legal Aid, representing low-income immigrant survivors in family law, international child custody, immigration, housing, and public benefits matters. She also worked as an associate attorney handling business litigation, securities fraud litigation, health care fraud litigation, and international child custody matters.

Tülin D. Açıkalın maintains an active pro bono caseload for domestic violence clients and has served as faculty for legal education programs on domestic violence, family law, immigration issues, and international child custody cases. She served on the Judicial Council of California’s Elkins Family Law Taskforce and has testified before state legislative committees. Açıkalın helps clients make informed decisions through trauma-informed guidance, practical strategy, and strong courtroom preparation.
