About
Timothy Wooten is the founder of The Wooten Firm in Atlanta and focuses on estate planning and probate administration. He helps individuals and families prepare wills and trusts, plan for long-term care, address tax-planning considerations, and navigate estate administration. His earlier litigation and appellate experience gives him additional perspective when planning or probate issues involve complex legal questions, disputed positions, or the need to evaluate how documents and legal rights may be interpreted.
Tim earned a B.A. in History from Erskine College and graduated cum laude from Georgia State University College of Law in the top 10% of his class. He later taught at Emory University. His academic record and legal training support a practice that requires careful analysis of estate-planning documents, probate procedures, tax considerations, and long-term planning issues while helping clients understand legal choices that affect property, family members, and future administration.
Tim previously litigated in state and federal courts throughout the United States as a partner at a national law firm. His experience has included insurance coverage and defense, complex litigation, construction and design, product liability, breach of contract, federal tax controversy, IRS and US Tax Court matters, settlements, probate, and multi-jurisdictional litigation. He later founded firms focused on estate planning, elder law, and probate administration, bringing broad litigation experience into planning-oriented work.
Timothy Wooten is a member of WealthCounsel, ElderCounsel, the State Bar of Georgia, and the State Bar of South Carolina. He has been selected as a Georgia Super Lawyer and is admitted in several federal and appellate courts as well as the United States Tax Court. His current firm concentrates on estate planning and probate administration, while his broader background supports client education about long-term care planning, tax planning, and the legal steps involved in protecting and administering a legacy.
