Timothy Tonkin

Timothy Tonkin is an Arizona personal injury lawyer at Phillips Law Group, with more than two decades of experience representing people harmed by negligence and wrongful conduct. His current practice focuses heavily on sexual assault claims involving young people, rideshare sexual abuse, and institutional abuse. His broader experience includes cases involving corporations, hospitals, nursing homes, product manufacturers, insurance companies, and reckless drivers. He is licensed in Arizona and Utah.

Timothy earned his B.A. in Philosophy from Northern Arizona University. He later received his J.D. from Arizona State University, College of Law. His undergraduate studies in philosophy and subsequent legal education provided a foundation in analysis, reasoning, advocacy, and the detailed evaluation of complex disputes.

Timothy has worked in injury litigation since the late 1990s and joined his current practice in 2003. He is certified in Injury and Wrongful Death Litigation by the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization. He served as co-chairman of the State Bar of Arizona’s College of Trial Advocacy from 2018 through 2024. He became an Associate Member of the American Board of Trial Advocates in 2017 and has lectured on personal injury matters.

He has served as a fee arbitrator for the State Bar of Arizona and has taught other attorneys through professional seminars.
