About

Timothy J. Hardesty is a Texas attorney who concentrates on estate planning, probate administration, nonprofit law, corporate formation, and business support services. His work includes planning for individuals and families with substantial assets as well as entrepreneurs establishing new ventures. Tim advises clients on the creation of wills, trusts, and family limited partnerships. He also assists business owners with planning for continued operations, ownership changes, acquisitions, and the eventual transfer or winding down of a business.

Tim earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, in 2000. After working in healthcare, he earned his J.D. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2010, graduating with honors. During law school, he clerked at a civil litigation practice, participated in a federal income taxpayer clinic, and competed in mock trial and negotiation events. He later coached the SMU negotiation competition team from 2010 through 2017, extending his involvement in practical legal skills training.

Tim has experience preparing estate plans for high-net-worth clients using wills, trusts, and family limited partnerships. He also assists with estate administration after a death, including matters that require ongoing communication with beneficiaries and families. His business practice includes corporate formations, startup support, and planning for the purchase, continuation, or closure of an enterprise. His nonprofit work addresses organizations with governance and operational needs. Together, these services involve structuring legal arrangements that connect property ownership, future obligations, and longer-term family or business goals.

Timothy J. Hardesty received Super Lawyers recognition in 2019 and has held professional leadership roles in Dallas-area bar organizations. These include work on continuing legal education and professionalism committees and membership in a young lawyers leadership class. His negotiation coaching and background in civil litigation support an approach to estate and business planning that considers both legal documents and future disputes. His practice focuses on helping families and organizations put workable structures in place before major changes occur.
