Thomas earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and History from the University of Utah. He later obtained a J.D. from the University of Utah in 2000, where he participated in the Traynor Moot Court Competition (1998–1999) and the Trial Advocacy Competition (1999), strengthening his courtroom and advocacy skills.

Thomas built a strong foundation early in his career through a five-year clerkship with the Honorable William A. Thorne of the Utah Court of Appeals. This experience provided valuable insight into appellate procedures and judicial reasoning, shaping his ability to approach cases with precision and strategic depth.

Thomas is actively involved in the legal community and is a member of the Family Law, Litigation, and Appellate sections of the Utah State Bar.
