Theodore S. Potkonjak

Theodore S. Potkonjak is a veteran trial attorney with over 42 years of experience in criminal defense and litigation. He began his career in the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, rising to Division Chief in the Career Offenders and Narcotics Unit, where he prosecuted major felonies and complex criminal matters.

Theodore earned his J.D. from California Western School of Law in 1982 and holds a B.A. in History and Political Science from MacMurray College, awarded in 1978. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and the Northern District of Illinois. His legal education and credentials support his reputation for courtroom excellence.

Theodore spent 15 years in private practice handling serious criminal cases, including murder jury trials, and served as a Special Public Defender for Lake County. Following this, he was appointed Associate Judge in Lake County, where he presided over criminal cases for more than two decades until retiring from the bench in 2024.

In 2024, Theodore returned to private practice, focusing on defending individuals facing criminal charges. In 2025, he joined Miroballi Durkin Rudin Lucas and Rosenblum as Of Counsel, expanding his reach into civil litigation areas such as personal injury, medical malpractice, and wrongful death.

His selection by the 22nd Judicial Circuit to represent defendants in conflict cases underscores his expertise.
