About
Thad A. Titze is an associate at Robins Kaplan LLP in Sioux Falls. Thad’s practice includes Business Litigation, American Indian Law and Policy, Wealth Planning, Administration, and Disputes, Personal Injury, and Medical Malpractice. He approaches litigation with experience gained in federal court and works on matters that may involve commercial claims, tribal law, fiduciary disputes, personal injuries, and other complex civil issues.
Thad graduated cum laude from the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law in 2020, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the South Dakota Law Review and competed on the trial team. He received a B.A. in Government & International Affairs with Honors, cum laude, from Augustana University in 2013. His academic work included published legal scholarship and intensive advocacy training.
Before joining Robins Kaplan, Titze clerked for a federal district court judge, where he observed and assisted with civil and criminal matters at multiple stages of litigation. That clerkship gave him direct exposure to federal trials, motion practice, legal research, and judicial decision-making. His current work draws on that experience when developing litigation strategy, assessing legal issues, and preparing matters for court or negotiated resolution.
Thad A. Titze received the American Law Institute Award for scholarship and leadership in 2020. He is active in the State Bar of South Dakota, the Second Circuit Bar Association, and the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association, and he serves on the board of Move to Heal South Dakota. Thad combines strong writing, courtroom training, and federal clerkship experience to provide careful and service-oriented representation.
