Susan Keating Anderson

Susan Keating Anderson focuses her legal practice on advising boards of education and public entities on a broad range of operational and legal matters. Her work includes labor and employment issues, board governance, policy development, and general counsel services. She helps educational leaders address complex challenges while supporting informed decision-making and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Susan earned a BA from The Ohio State University in 1996 before obtaining a JD from Capital University Law School in 2002. While completing her legal education, she graduated magna cum laude, was recognized with Order of the Curia honors, and served as Associate Editor of the Law Review. Her educational background helped build a strong foundation for her work in the public sector and education law.

Susan regularly counsels school districts on labor negotiations, grievances, arbitrations, teacher evaluations, vendor contracts, Title IX compliance, public records matters, and open meetings requirements. She frequently serves as the chief labor negotiator for teaching and non-teaching collective bargaining agreements. Her experience also includes advising administrators on employee discipline, reductions in force, non-renewals, and governance matters affecting educational institutions.

Susan provides guidance beyond the education sector by assisting municipalities, public libraries, and county boards of developmental disabilities. Her practice covers labor and employment matters, planning and zoning concerns, and governance issues. She has served as Solicitor for the Village of Put-in-Bay, labor counsel for the City of Elyria, and previously held the position of Law Director for the City of Vermilion.

Susan Keating Anderson has represented public employers in state and federal courts, arbitration proceedings, and administrative matters before agencies including the EEOC, OCRC, and OCR. She also conducts Title IX and professional development training programs to help organizations meet legal obligations.
