Stuart Sarratt

Stuart Sarratt is a co-founder and trial attorney at Sarratt & Horta Vorse, P.A. in South Carolina. Based in his hometown of Greenville, he represents individuals facing criminal charges and handles civil litigation matters. His criminal defense practice includes drug possession and trafficking, felony DUI, murder, sexual offense allegations, misdemeanors, and other serious charges. Stuart prepares cases with close attention to evidence, courtroom strategy, and the consequences clients may face.

Stuart graduated from Furman University in 2007 with dual degrees in information technology and Asian studies. He later earned his J.D. from Charleston School of Law in 2011 and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar that year. His academic background supports a methodical approach to legal analysis, case preparation, and problem solving. This training helps him evaluate complex facts, identify important legal issues, and present clear arguments in high-stakes criminal and civil cases.

Stuart began his legal career as a public defender in Greenville, initially trying misdemeanor cases in magistrate court. Over the following decade, he developed substantial courtroom experience and tried dozens of jury cases involving both felony and misdemeanor charges. His trial work has included murder, criminal sexual conduct with a minor, driving under the influence, and drug-related offenses. He also secured acquittals in two murder trials, reflecting experience handling cases with serious allegations and significant personal consequences.

After leaving the public defender’s office, Stuart entered private practice and opened a solo law firm focused primarily on criminal defense. In 2025, he partnered with Maria Horta Vorse to establish their current firm and expand representation in criminal and civil litigation. Stuart Sarratt brings clients a practical understanding of courtroom procedure, prosecution strategy, and trial preparation. His experience allows him to assess risk carefully, explain available options, and provide focused advocacy throughout difficult legal matters.
