Steven Paul Cohn

Steven Paul Cohn is a seasoned employment law attorney and the founder of the Advocacy Center for Employment Law in San Jose, California. With over 35 years of legal experience, Mr. Cohn has focused his career on representing employees in disputes involving wrongful termination, workplace discrimination, harassment, wage issues, and other labor-related matters. Recognized for his strong advocacy and results-driven approach, Mr. Cohn is widely respected across Silicon Valley for his dedication to protecting employee rights.

Mr. Cohn earned his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1980. In 1978, he studied at Oxford University’s Institute of Comparative International Law. He completed his B.A. at the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1975.

Mr. Cohn began his legal journey in both public service and private practice. Since 1986, he has served as a judge pro tem and Arbitrator for the Santa Clara County Superior Court and the American Arbitration Association. In 1991, he co-founded Bohn, Bennion, Cohn & Niland and later established the Advocacy Center for Employment Law in 1994. His involvement with the Pro Bono Project as a consulting attorney from 1988 to 1998 highlights his commitment to accessible legal services.

Mr. Cohn is an active member of the California State Bar, the Consumer Attorneys of California, and bar associations in Santa Clara and San Francisco Counties. His work has been recognized with several honors, including the Wiley W. Manual Award for Pro Bono Legal Services and multiple listings in Who’s Who directories. From 1996 through 2007, San Jose Magazine named him among “The Best of the Best: The Attorneys of Silicon Valley” based on peer review.
