Steve Groom

Steve Groom is a Nashville business lawyer at Dedicated General Counsel PLLC, with decades of experience serving companies as legal counsel and an executive leader. He has held general counsel and executive positions with five companies, including four public companies. His work covers corporate governance, employment, intellectual property, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, litigation management, crisis management, and enterprise risk. He has completed executive education programs through Harvard University Law School, Wharton, Kellogg, Emory University, and Stanford Director’s College.

Steve has extensive experience with corporate transactions, regulatory matters, workplace investigations, dispute resolution, and outside counsel management. His background includes negotiating and documenting mergers and acquisitions and advising on venture capital and private equity matters. He has participated in more than 2,300 mediations and arbitrations as an advocate or neutral. His work has included corporate governance, privacy, healthcare, artificial intelligence, employment, banking regulation, and intellectual property issues. He has served in leadership roles involving legal, compliance, human resources, risk management, and investigations functions.

Steve Groom serves as Managing Member and provides general counsel, contract counsel, compliance, risk management, and advisory services to businesses. His prior positions include Chief Risk Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Human Resources Officer, and corporate secretary responsibilities. He has represented public, private, and family-owned companies throughout his career. He has taught corporate governance, business law, negotiation, mediation, and related subjects as adjunct faculty at Lipscomb University.
