Stephen L. Brown is an experienced attorney and Managing Partner at Clement Rivers, LLP. He also leads the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Appellate Practice Group. With more than 30 years of experience, he represents individuals and businesses in complex legal disputes.
Stephen earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Clemson University in 1989. He later received his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1993. He has been admitted to practice in South Carolina since 1993.
Stephen has built a broad and active legal practice, handling matters at all procedural levels. He has extensive trial experience and has successfully managed complex litigation in both state and federal courts. He also uses alternative dispute resolution methods to achieve efficient and favorable results for clients.
Stephen has significant experience in insurance law, including coverage issues and claims practices. He regularly advises insurance carriers, handles declaratory judgment actions, and defends against bad faith claims. His work reflects a deep understanding of complex insurance matters and litigation strategy.
Stephen has been involved in hundreds of appeals before South Carolina appellate courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He is also often engaged to handle appeals for other firms and has prepared amicus curiae briefs in important cases.
