Stephen D. Ellis is a highly respected trial lawyer and appellate advocate with extensive experience in litigation and employment law. As a Litigation and Employment + Labor team member at Paul Frank + Collins, he brings decades of expertise in handling complex civil disputes, arbitration, and mediation. His practice spans multiple jurisdictions, representing private and municipal clients before state and federal courts, as well as administrative agencies and tribunals.

Ellis holds a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law (1986) and a B.A. from Hampshire College (1981). Admitted to practice in Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania, and Maine, he also litigates before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits and the U.S. Supreme Court. His vast legal knowledge and courtroom experience have earned him recognition as a New England Super Lawyer since 2014 and an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Throughout his career, Ellis has successfully tried numerous jury trials, argued appeals, and resolved over a hundred cases through adjudication or settlement. He is also a member of the American Bar Association’s International Labor and Employment Law Committee. He contributes as a panelist for the Early Neutral Evaluation Program in the U.S. District Court for Vermont.
