Stephen D. Busey

Stephen D. Busey is a seasoned trial lawyer with a deep focus on complex commercial litigation and insolvency matters. Stephen earned his Bachelor of Science from Stetson University and later received his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law. He is admitted to practice before The Florida Bar, the United States Supreme Court, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and several U.S. District Courts across Florida.

Stephen leads legal strategies in corporate reorganizations under Chapter 11, representing debtors and creditors alike. His bankruptcy experience includes national-scale cases involving publicly traded companies. He also handles litigation arising from insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings throughout the state.

Stephen has a deep involvement in sports law, including disputes within league governance. He played a key role in developing anti-corruption rules and enforcement procedures for professional tennis, shaping global standards in sports integrity and compliance.

Stephen served as chair of The Florida Bar’s Special Study Commission, contributing to the current Rules of Professional Conduct used by all Florida attorneys. His service also includes leadership roles in the Business Law Section of The Florida Bar and the Jacksonville Bar Association.
