Stephanie L. Williams is the principal of Williams Family Law in Sacramento, California, and a California Certified Family Law Specialist. She practices exclusively in family law, representing clients in divorce, annulment, child custody, child support, spousal support, domestic violence, restraining orders, paternity, and post-judgment matters. Ms. Williams also helps clients resolve disputes through mediation and collaborative divorce when those approaches offer a practical alternative to traditional courtroom litigation.
Ms. Williams earned her J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 1997 and an A.B. in Political Science from Bryn Mawr College in 1990. While attending law school, she served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable J.D. Smith of the Georgia Court of Appeals. She is admitted to practice in California state courts and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California.
Ms. Williams has practiced law since 1998 and founded her Sacramento family law practice in 2002. Her earlier experience includes serving as an associate with Bartholomew, Wasznicky & Molinaro LLP, a staff attorney at the Family Law Pro Per Clinic, and a partner with Hiroshima, Jacobs, Roth and Lewis. Earlier in her career, she handled land use and federal litigation matters in Tahoe City and served as co-counsel in Tahoe Sierra Preservation Council v. Tahoe Regional Planning Authority.
Stephanie L. Williams has served in leadership and professional roles connected to family law, including as a former vice-chair of the Sacramento Regional Standing Committee of the State Bar Family Law Section. Her professional involvement has also included the Sacramento County Bar Association’s Family Law Section, the American Bar Association Section of Family Law, Women Lawyers of Sacramento, and collaborative practice organizations. She has also provided family law guidance to JAG officers and deployed military personnel through Operation Stand-By.
