Sean P. Connolly

Sean P. Connolly is the founder of Connolly Law Office, P.C., and an Illinois overweight truck defense attorney. He represents truck drivers, owner-operators, and trucking companies across Illinois, focusing on citations under 625 ILCS 5/15-111, overweight violations, over-dimension issues, permits, and CDL-impacting traffic matters for clients statewide.

Sean received a diploma from Marist High School in Chicago in June 1992. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from John Carroll University in 1996, a Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 2002, and a Master’s in Strategic Studies from the Army War College in July 2020.

Sean regularly represents clients in Cook County, DuPage County, Will County, Lake County, Kane County, and throughout Illinois. He helps clients address costly fines, protect CDL licenses, and reduce business impact. His practice includes overweight axles, gross weight, IDOT permits, load securement, over-dimensioned loads, municipal overweight permits, and related traffic matters.

Sean previously served as an Assistant State’s Attorney with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. There, he prosecuted serious traffic offenses, including DUI and suspended or revoked license cases, along with felony narcotics matters. This experience helps him evaluate cases, anticipate prosecution strategies, and defend truck clients effectively.

Sean has successfully defended hundreds of overweight truck citations through dismissals, reductions, strategic negotiations, trials, and appeals before the Illinois Appellate Court. He is also a retired Colonel with 30 years of United States Army service and received the Bronze Star Medal for exceptionally meritorious service during major operations.
