Scott Patrick Brand

Scott Patrick Brand is a partner at Nilson Brand Law in Fargo who represents clients in criminal defense and family-law matters across North Dakota and Minnesota. His criminal practice includes DUI and DWI charges, drug offenses, domestic violence, assault, theft, white-collar matters, sex offenses, appeals, and homicide cases. He also handles divorce, child custody, and child support disputes for clients navigating significant family transitions.

Scott earned his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2012 and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of North Dakota in 2009. In law school, he won a moot court championship and participated in the North Dakota Law Review and Environmental Law Society. His academic and advocacy training supports a practice centered on courtroom procedure, legal research, evidence, and persuasive argument.

His criminal defense work includes municipal, state, and federal proceedings involving both misdemeanor and serious felony charges. Scott’s prior experience includes service as a judicial law clerk, work connected with Senator Byron Dorgan, and service in the Minnesota Army National Guard, including Operation Iraqi Freedom.
