Sarah M. Harris is an appellate lawyer known for handling complex and high-stakes matters before the highest courts in the country. Her work centers on appeals in the U.S. Supreme Court as well as federal and state appellate courts, where she has presented arguments across a wide range of challenging legal disputes.

Sarah received her undergraduate education at Princeton University, graduating summa cum laude. She later earned her J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard Law School. Continuing her academic work, she completed an M. Phil. from the University of Cambridge and went on to earn a Ph.D. from the same institution.

Sarah has argued five cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and has presented numerous arguments in federal courts of appeals and state appellate courts. Her practice spans constitutional law, with a strong focus on First Amendment and separation-of-powers issues, along with administrative law, arbitration, antitrust, class actions, and federal civil procedure.

Sarah’s experience also includes service in government, where she worked as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel. In that role, she contributed to significant legal analysis on matters affecting federal authority, statutory interpretation, and constitutional structure at the highest levels.

Sarah clerked for Justice Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court of the United States, Judge Laurence Silberman on the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, and Judge Sandra Lynch on the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, gaining deep insight into appellate decision-making and judicial reasoning.

Sarah’s appellate work has earned wide recognition within the legal community. Chambers USA has named her “Up and Coming” in Appellate Law. She has also been listed in Bloomberg Law’s 40 Under 40, Benchmark Litigation’s “40 & Under Hot List,” and recognized by The National Law Journal, Law360, and The Legal 500.
