About

Sarah M. Armstrong is a partner at Armstrong Roth Whitley Johnstone Family Law in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she practices family law and domestic relations statewide. Armstrong represents clients in divorce, child custody, visitation, adoption, child support, spousal support, and complex property division matters. Her work combines litigation, negotiation, mediation, and collaborative approaches, helping clients evaluate different paths to resolving sensitive family disputes.

Armstrong earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center after completing a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of New Mexico in 2001. She returned to Albuquerque after law school and was admitted to the State Bar of New Mexico in 2004. Her legal education and communication background support a practice that requires careful advocacy, clear explanation of options, and practical problem solving in family law matters.

Armstrong has completed more than 100 hours of training in alternative dispute resolution and has been formally trained in Collaborative Divorce since 2013. She uses mediation, settlement facilitation, collaborative practice, and litigation depending on the needs of each case. Her experience includes matters involving parenting arrangements, support obligations, adoption, and complex property division, helping clients pursue workable solutions while preparing for contested proceedings when settlement is not appropriate.

Sarah M. Armstrong currently chairs the Family Law Section of the State Bar of New Mexico and has served on the Domestic Relations Rules Committee since the New Mexico Supreme Court appointed her in 2018. She has also remained active in providing legal education to other practitioners. Her leadership and dispute-resolution training complement a family law practice centered on informed advocacy, practical solutions, and careful guidance through divorce, custody, and other domestic relations matters.
