Sara Lock

Sara Lock is a Senior Associate Attorney at Just Criminal Law in Gillette, Wyoming. She represents people facing criminal defense charges and brings experience from the prosecution, judiciary, and private practice. Before moving into defense work, she spent about five years with the Campbell County Attorney’s Office and eventually carried its heaviest felony caseload. She now uses that background to analyze how the State builds cases, evaluate evidence, and prepare clients for hearings, negotiations, and trial.

Sara attended the University of Montana School of Law, where she completed her legal education. Her professional development continued through nearly four years as a staff attorney at the appellate level with the Idaho Supreme Court and two years as a staff attorney to a judge in Wyoming’s Sixth Judicial District. That court experience gave her close exposure to judicial reasoning, briefing, records, and procedure, all of which support her current work reviewing criminal evidence and developing defense strategies.

Sara handles criminal cases across northeast Wyoming and regularly appears for initial appearances, bond arguments, scheduling conferences, plea hearings, sentencings, evidentiary hearings, and trials. She reviews law enforcement reports, bodycam and dashcam video, photographs, lab results, and medical records and explains the elements the State must prove. Earlier in her career, she practiced family law, contract disputes, and estate planning and handled First Amendment litigation in Arizona.
