Sara E. Van Genderen

Sara E. Van Genderen is a partner and civil attorney based in Jackson, Wyoming. She advises longstanding clients, including local businesses and large employers, on legal issues tied to their operations. Her practice focuses on business entity formation, corporate counsel, employer-side employment law, business and construction contracts, real estate transactions, governmental and special district matters, school law, and administrative law.

Sara earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Middlebury College in 1988, graduating cum laude with high departmental honors. She was also a 1986 Harry S. Truman National Scholarship recipient. She received a Master of Arts in Governmental Administration from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990. After attending Vermont Law School, Sara earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 1993 and was named to the Order of Barristers.

Sara has practiced law in Jackson since 1993, first as an associate and later as a partner. Her experience includes helping organizations form and manage business entities, preparing and reviewing contracts, guiding employers through workplace matters, and supporting clients in real estate transactions. She is admitted in Wyoming, the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Her professional memberships include state and county bar associations and organizations focused on school and education law.

Sara E. Van Genderen combines decades of civil practice with sustained service to the Jackson community. She has served as chancellor and legal advisor to St. John’s Episcopal Church since 2013 and joined the board of Teton County Community Tennis Association in 2022. Her other board service includes Mental Health & Recovery Services of Jackson Hole, the Senior Center of Jackson Hole, the Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum, the Children’s Learning Center, and the Teton County Board of Historic Preservation.
