Sam Petitt

Sam Petitt is an associate attorney at Thorp Purdy whose practice focuses on family law, business law, and civil litigation. He works with clients facing complex legal matters and provides careful guidance at every stage of the legal process, with clear communication and practical legal support.

Sam earned his law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law. During law school, he gained valuable legal experience while externing for the Honorable Mustafa T. Kasubhai at the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, where he observed federal court proceedings and legal decision-making.

Sam built additional practical experience while working in public service roles early in his career. Before joining Thorp Purdy, he clerked for the Lane County Counsel’s Office, assisting attorneys with employment and civil litigation matters while supporting the office’s work on complex legal issues.

Sam later served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Kamala H. Shugar at the Lane County Circuit Court. In that role, he assisted the court by conducting legal research, reviewing filings, and preparing materials for cases before the court.

Sam also completed his undergraduate education at the University of Oregon, where he studied political science and philosophy. His academic background provided a strong foundation in legal reasoning, public policy, and analytical thinking that continues to support his work as an attorney.
