Ronald Sykstus

Ronald Sykstus is the managing partner at Bond, Botes, Sykstus, & Tanner P.C. The firm serves clients in Huntsville and Decatur, Alabama. With a distinguished military and civilian law career, Ron is a trusted legal advocate in multiple fields.

Ron began his legal career after earning his J.D. from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 1987. He was commissioned as a U.S. Army Captain through the JAG Corps. He was the lead prosecutor for the 11th ADA Division and the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Bliss, Texas.

He also worked as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in El Paso, prosecuting federal criminal cases. His exceptional service earned him the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM).

Then, Ron was stationed at Fort McClellan, Alabama. He served as Senior Defense Counsel for the U.S. Army’s Trial Defense Service. He led a team of attorneys. They handled court-martial, security clearance defense, and military boards. His outstanding contributions earned him another Meritorious Service Medal upon his honorable discharge.

After his military service, Ron joined Bond, Botes, Sykstus, & Tanner P.C. as a key legal team member. He transitioned to civilian law and has represented clients in various legal matters. He uses his military and federal court experience to provide effective counsel. Ron specializes in federal and military law, veterans’ claims, and administrative matters. His expertise and strategy have led to many wins.

Ron can practice in Alabama, Illinois, Tennessee, and D.C. He can also practice in some federal courts, like the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and the U.S. Tax Court. His dedication to the law and service make him respected in the legal community.
