Ronald J. Knoll

Ronald J. Knoll is a shareholder at ABST Law in Fargo, North Dakota, where he has practiced since 2004. His work includes civil litigation, insurance law, commercial disputes, business transactions, contracts, corporate formations, estate planning, and real estate. Ron advises clients on resolving legal problems both inside and outside the courtroom. His practice is informed by experience in private litigation and as in-house counsel for an insurance company.

Ron earned an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Moorhead State University in 1988 and a Juris Doctor from the University of North Dakota in 1992. He later received an LL.M. in International Law from Notre Dame Law School in 1993 and an LL.M. in Insurance Law from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2003. His education combines accounting with advanced legal study in fields directly relevant to commercial and insurance matters.

Ron previously practiced civil litigation with Jeffries, Olson, Flom & Bullis in Fargo and worked as corporate counsel for Nodak Mutual Insurance Company from 2000 to 2003. He joined ABST Law the following year. His experience covers both claims arising from disputes and legal planning intended to prevent future disagreements. He assists clients with contract terms, corporate arrangements, insurance matters, and estate planning questions while considering practical ways to address competing interests.

Ronald J. Knoll is admitted in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Colorado, as well as federal district courts in North Dakota and Minnesota and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. He belongs to the North Dakota Bar Association and Cass County Bar Association. His combination of outside litigation practice and in-house insurance counsel experience helps him evaluate legal risks from different perspectives. He emphasizes client communication and a shared understanding of objectives when developing legal strategies.
