Robin Schmid

Robin Schmid is a Sitka criminal defense attorney with decades of experience in Alaska state and federal courts. Her practice focuses on serious criminal accusations, DUI and other driving offenses, and related proceedings. She also has experience with juvenile matters, child protection cases, Social Security disability, contracts, and property issues. Her career includes both prosecution and defense, providing perspective on how criminal cases are investigated, charged, and contested.

Robin earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice, Sociology, and Political Science from Western Michigan University in 1984 and a J.D. from Michigan State University in 1989. She was admitted in Michigan in 1991 and in Alaska in 1994. Her education in criminal justice and law supports a practice involving constitutional rights, criminal procedure, and evidentiary disputes. She has also taught criminology and juvenile delinquency courses at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Robin served as an Alaska Assistant District Attorney and Assistant Attorney General, and later as municipal attorney for the City and Borough of Sitka. She has operated a private law practice for many years, defending clients against serious charges and appearing in courts throughout Alaska. Her experience includes matters involving criminal appeals, drug allegations, violent offenses, and DUI defense. She also has handled Indian Child Welfare Act and child-in-need-of-aid matters.

Robin Schmid received an Outstanding Criminal Defense recognition from the Alaska Native Justice Center in 2003. She is associated with the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National College for DUI Defense. Her career also includes government legal service and teaching.
