Robert S. Toale

Robert S. Toale is a criminal defense lawyer in Gretna, Louisiana, who represents clients in state and federal criminal matters. His practice focuses almost exclusively on criminal law, including DWI, drug offenses, violent crimes, white collar crimes, sexual offenses, probation violations, juvenile matters, and appeals. Mr. Toale earned his J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law in 1982 and his B.A. from Tulane University in 1975. Mr. Toale has more than 30 years of criminal defense experience. After law school, he started his own practice and accepted criminal appointments in Jefferson Parish, including work in juvenile court and later as a contract public defender. He has tried more than 100 jury trials and represented more than 5,000 clients. His work has included high-profile cases and matters that required careful courtroom strategy and media experience.

Robert S. Toale is recognized for his commitment to criminal defense and the right to counsel. He received the Albert Tate Jr. Award from the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and previously served as that organization’s president. Mr. Toale has also served on the board of directors of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
