Robert Powers

Robert Powers is a managing member and business litigation attorney at McClanahan Powers, PLLC, in Falls Church, Virginia. He advises companies on commercial disputes, contracts, intellectual property, employment law, and business transactions. He also serves as outside general counsel to more than 100 businesses across the United States at a given time. His work ranges from preventive compliance and contract negotiations to trial litigation when business conflicts cannot be resolved outside court.

Robert earned a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Florida and a J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law. He also received specialty certifications in Corporate Law and in Communications and Intellectual Property Law from Michigan State University College of Law. His business education and legal training support his work negotiating transactions, assessing contractual risks, and advising on the regulatory and litigation concerns businesses face.

Robert has drafted and negotiated multimillion-dollar intellectual property licenses, business acquisitions, asset purchases, and employment agreements. He secured a $549,000 judgment in a federal business RICO action and has litigated trademark disputes before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and federal courts. His experience also includes copyright claims, employee wage disputes, and consumer protection matters. He assists new organizations with formation documents and ongoing governance and compliance needs.
