About
Robert Botnick is a Cleveland-area criminal defense attorney who represents individuals facing state and federal charges, DUI/OVI allegations, traffic offenses, and juvenile delinquency matters. A former Cuyahoga County prosecutor, he brings experience from both sides of criminal court proceedings. His practice involves serious felony accusations as well as misdemeanor and traffic cases, where a conviction can affect a person’s freedom, driving privileges, record, and future opportunities.
Robert received his bachelor’s degree from Miami University and his law degree from Cleveland State University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 2004 and to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio in 2012. His education and court admissions prepared him for criminal litigation involving investigative records, evidentiary issues, trial preparation, and the procedures used in state and federal courts.
Robert spent seven years as a Cuyahoga County prosecutor, handling serious felony cases including murder, rape, arson, drug trafficking, computer crimes, and theft-related offenses. He has tried more than 60 felony cases during his legal career. His defense work now includes federal charges, felony and misdemeanor allegations, OVI cases, traffic violations, and juvenile court proceedings. His prosecutorial background gives him experience evaluating evidence and courtroom strategy.
Robert Botnick combines substantial felony trial experience with firsthand knowledge of how criminal cases are investigated and prosecuted. His practice addresses the demands of cases ranging from impaired-driving allegations to serious offenses carrying substantial penalties. He works to assess the available evidence, identify disputed issues, and develop a legal defense suited to the charges and the specific circumstances of each client.
