Robert A. Fanning

Robert A. Fanning is a partner in an Indianapolis law firm and focuses his practice exclusively on workers’ compensation. He provides counsel in defense and mediation matters, offering practical solutions for employers and insurers handling workplace injury claims and related legal issues.

Robert earned a B.S. from Indiana University in 1973 and a J.D. from Indiana University in 1976. His education provided a strong foundation for a legal career focused on workers’ compensation law and advocacy within the business and insurance communities.

Robert was admitted to the Indiana Bar in 1976. He has built a long-standing career in workers’ compensation defense, developing extensive experience representing clients in complex claims and efficiently guiding them through legal and administrative processes.

Robert serves as Executive Director of the Indiana Self-Insurers Association and is a Fellow of the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers. He is also a frequent speaker on workers’ compensation issues and contributes to discussions across business, medical, and insurance groups.

Robert has authored key publications, including the Workers’ Compensation Handbook and the Layman’s Guide to Workers’ Compensation. He has also written numerous articles for professional organizations and continuing education programs, reflecting his leadership in the field.
